The sole purpose of the Popup to Tab extension is to detect when websites attempt to open new popup windows and automatically redirect their content into a new tab within your main browser window instead. This helps keep your browsing experience cleaner and more organized.

Information We Access (Required for Functionality)

To perform its core function, the extension needs to access specific, limited information:

• Window Creation Events: The extension detects when new browser windows are created, specifically looking for windows identified by the browser as type 'popup'. This is essential to identify potential popups to convert.
• Tab URLs: When a popup window is detected, the extension accesses:
  • The URL of the tab that initiated the popup (or the currently active tab as a fallback). This URL is used **only** to determine the website's hostname (e.g., www.example.com) so the extension can check if you have disabled its functionality for that specific site.
  • The URL that the popup window intends to load. This URL is used **only** to open it in a new tab as part of the conversion process.

We do NOT collect, track, or store your browsing history. URL access is temporary and strictly limited to the moments when a popup is detected and processed.

Information We Store (Locally on Your Device)

The extension stores your configuration settings **only locally** on your computer using the standard Chrome storage API (chrome.storage.local). This stored data includes:

• A setting indicating whether you have globally disabled the extension.
• A list of website hostnames (e.g., www.example.com) for which you have specifically chosen to allow normal popup behavior (i.e., disable the conversion-to-tab functionality for that site).

This configuration data remains entirely on your device and is never transmitted anywhere.

Required Permissions and Why
